    Thumbs up

Avion, what are the plans for this VERY lucky find, whose destiny now rests in your hands?
Is this gem going to be something that will be treasured by you & yours, or will she be passed on to an alternative appreciatative "carer"?

Nice pics. I used to use the genuine carnuba wax on windscreen rubbers as well as the paintwork. They came up a treat.
Don't forget the vinyl quarter plates, - and be gentle on the ventilation grilles... they could be rather brittle by now!

I don't know if they did it back then but on the later Classics there is a heavy foam block under the RH rear vinyl panel. This gets wet, holds the water against the steel body, and....... Take out the interior quarter-trim and have a look at the steel.

You're permitted to use a power polisher for the roof...

And don't damage the rego sticker... it's adding value/provenance.

Those rust spots look more like someone has been using an angle grinder nearby.

Phosphoric acid would make them gawnnnn without the need for cutting.

At present just to keep it as close to original as possible. We will treasure it for the foreseeable future as we have our 107" & the 80" - which is sadly gone as someone wanted it a lot more than we did. In the end these Land Rover products are only in our temporary care as they tend to out last us, the 80" was older than me just, but the 107 is just a tad younger & the Range Rover is but a grand child.

Could be true but knowing the PO I doubt he ever used an angle grinder, & it lived in one of his hangars most of its life. The paint is very thin in many places just a fact of 37 years of mainly stored life! For a few years all it did was move a Piper Chieftain in and out of the hangar! Maybe the Birmabright had an allergic reaction with the Piper Aluminum?

I did use the Carnuba rubbing compound & then the carnuba wax, & it did come up a treat as did the rubbers on the side windows & the vinyl panel. Will check the RH panel to see if it has the foam block. The rego sticker is probably 2008 or so, but the Freemantle Yacht Club sticker on the quarter light is a genuine 1978, so will definitely cherish that.

Also having a fight with the rear tailgate struts, "prise the stay from the tailgate fixing" yeh right!

    Cheers Nigel

Nigel, there may be a semi-circular flattish spring thingie around the strut end.

Hi Superquag, That would be for the earlier models where you had to "prise off the retaining cap at each end of the stay"!

You just have to be a little bit brutal with it & off it pops. Hope I can find new stays? Not good when the tailgate crashes down on the back of your head! Remains up just long enough to get your head in the back

I feel your pain.... The PO of Lady Sarah only had one (stuffed) and a length of ally pipe to hold it up. - Join the dots!

Still only got one..... Bought it from Martins Trailer parts, up off Guildford Road. Nice range of various sizes and pressures, and from memory wasn't too pricey
