SupporterI have a 1985 RRC with the A727 auto. The light you are referring to is the auto transmission over temperature light. The switch is located just behind the front grill on the passenger side of the vehicle, it is in one of the transmission cooler lines.

According to the workshop manuals, the EFI light appeared on the 1987 model and is in the right hand column and is labelled EFI. There is no check engine light.
Again, according to the manuals, there is no lone exclamation mark in the binnacle. I think we need a pic.

SubscriberAFAIR there was never a check engine light on Australian 14CUX or 14CU .
That was only for the US market as was the diagnostic display under the seat.
