Seems like a million years ago, but I changed my '79's 3 bolt box to a Disco 4 bolt.
That would have been early 90's and I don't recall needing to mod any hoses.
3 bolt box in my RRC was horrendously leaky. Paid big $'s to reco it back in the day .. only for it to start leaking again not long after any warranty expired.
I just put it down to either crap materials/seals/engineering ... and once the 4 bolt box went in .. no problems for many klms and years going forward.
You always remember the bad experiences, and hardly any of the good(or easy) ones .. maybe the hoses needed modding, if so, probably an easy fix anyhow.
Drop arm was hard to remove tho. Dad had a mighty strong 3 armed puller tool. Had to be changed as the '79 had the ball joint in it, the replacement Disco box had the holed drop arm where the drag link had the ball joint in it. Again easy work around.
So just keep this in mind, if the '76's drop arm hasn't been modded with a later type tie rod end setup. If you get a 4 bolt box from a wrecker, you may also want the drag link.
