    Hi Phil,
My 1980 Rangie has black edges on the lights and black bumpers, but looking at ads on Carsales several 82 cars have black edges at the front and clear at the back. You would think they would have been more consistent, but it’s maybe just what they found in the parts bin when they were putting them together. There’s probably no two completely identical Classics left now.
Good to see you’re making progress.
    Cheers,
    Woolly.

    Thanks Wooly
I like you, would have expected some consistency, all black or all clear.
As my left rear tail light has a black banded side reflector, I’m assuming it has been changed at some time and perhaps all the rest of the rear lights are without the black band and assume they are original. They all have lots of tiny cracks and crazed, so they have been on a car for a long time.

    Regards
    Phil

When I converted my first 110 to a dual cab, there were holes in the roof from what I would assume were work lights and an orange beacon light.
I patched the inside with a piece of fibreglass and then a bit of filler in the holes.
Lasted 15 years of my exceptionally smooth driving 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Thanks Gav
i have considered patching the roof as you have described, but my head keeps telling me to get it welded.
I have a MIG welder but it is a bit of a cheapy and only good for mild steel, plus I’ve never welded aluminium even if I did have a quality machine.
There are extra holes in the doors from alternate mirrors and someone also had bonnet straps so there are some more holes in the front guards.
Maybe I’ll get a mobile welder to come along and weld them all up

Modern epoxy is pretty stout. For small holes thats what I'd use.

Yes. Needs to be fibre reinforced.

Sand / chamfer carefully around each hole carefully to bare aly, about 10mm dia to prep.

Round white ball die grinder bit would be perfect even in a drill.

You could also cheat and just get the whole roof vinyl wrapped.

I'm thinking about getting mine done because it's a pita to prep and paint.

Woder if it comes in Masai red?

350RRC, what do you imply by “needs to be fibre reinforced”.
I have looked at the JB Weld and it looks like it would do the job OK.
I presume I could tap down where the screw holes are so that they are flush with the roof, then lightly grind both sides and apply the JB Weld inside and outside. After curing, sand flush, prep and paint.

I've never used JB so don't know what's in it.

Epoxy on its own is an adhesive with little structural strength, hence fibre is added to beef it up.

Not sure about tapping down the holes because the roof is so soft you could end up with indentations far bigger than you need.

If you're going to do it that way then do the grinding first and then tap down to get a proper chamfer to be filled.

    cheers, DL
