    You won't break the VC transfer case. (mechanically anyway)

    Problems with them are as follows

    1. Tend to slip when reversing on steep hills, making controlled steering, more difficult than a completely locked LT230.

    2. More tyre wear when used a lot around town.

    3. Plenty more backlash when the chain stretchs.

    4. Prone to locking up.

    5. Expensive to overhaul.

    Mine still works and you can have it for free in a month or so.

    It has 170,000 KM on it. I have always done regular oil changes.
    It's still perfectly quiet with no oil leaks at all.
    I Jacked up one wheel and found the viscous does still work only 1 month ago.
    It DOES have a stretched chain.
    It does have plenty of FWD & Back play on the output flange .
    It does have some bad scrapes on the bottom of it.

    Come to think of it my whole truck is like that.
