    Battery light on

    Hi All
I bought my Brothers 89 Raingie a few years back ever since i bought it the generator light has been on have not had a flat battery or replaced it.
The modifications that have been done to the Rangie are original motor replaced with a warm 4.6 with its electronics. Someone said it could be a diode reversed but where. the only thing that bugs me is that the light is on all the time I drive it.
    Regards
    Doug

Yes a diode is the likely culprit, the rectifier will require replacement but depending on the model /type of alternator(Could be Lucas or Marelli), the cost could be 50% of the replacement cost of the whole unit. Best do some research/ quotes etc.

I would probably take the bulb out as a short gap measure and then look into it when funds/time allow

That will stop it charging for sure, as the bulb is part of the exciter circuit

Hey CSA boy, I'm off to look at a free Rangie tomorrow morning, I'll buzz you if it is worthwhile if you want?

No probs, plenty of room at the workshop, kitchen, shower, toilet, internet access, heated office, hoists, compressor, tools etc etc .

Only $750/ week plus parts etc.
