Definitely looks better without the pink Rod!!!

Installed a 12v outlet where the lighting options switch was. Didn’t disconnect the wires from the switch, just removed it from its location, wrapped it in foam and shoved it under the the top panel. I then ditched the backing plate.

Then just turned the front plate over.

Looks good and works well.

I bought this today. $59.00. Of a d1 v8. Got the reservoir as well, extra $17.00 from U Pull It at gillman. Cheap as. Gonna get an E bay pump and get some lines made up. Cheapest power steering conversion i can afford. Should be all done for less than $400.00. Stuff paying over 2k for it. Happy as, now.

Ok today filled up fuel tank. 26 litres, 261klm city driving. Thats 3 lots of fills with new tank. Each time its 10 klm to a litre. Gotta be happy with that. 10 litres per 100 klm city driving. Cheap for an old diesel with no computers.

Ran some CEM engine flush through the 4BD1, sucked the oil out through the dipstick and refilled with 15W40 and new oil filter. The new oil is definitely cleaner now.

I only do about 2000km between oil changes.

I was pretty happy with the oil vacuum method. Only a dribble remained when I removed the sump plug (after the vacuum procedure). I won’t bother undoing the sump plug again.

What a mess.



Got a true professional auto electrician in to help solve my parasitic draw problem.

Got to the bottom of it. Squashed and rubbed wires in two locations. All fixed. Now I have to remember how to put it back together.

Certainly looks like a mess.

. It does look bad. I’ve had the dash apart a few times. It all goes back ok.

I will make some changes to the LR design so the wiring has more space. In particular a false floor above the tray between the right vent lever and instrument panel.
