Either way......I don't have one yet, it's on the wish list
And it would have been engineered to comply.
Do you have the design brief for the project?

    Nope, do you??.....does anybody??

In my experience in the army I doubt they would have considered anything external to their own weird and wonderful ways

There probably won't be any issues but it a big call say they are compliant....if I end up with one it will be demilitarized pretty quick.

Pretty sure my mate has raised the question with Qld Transport.......i have no idea of the outcome. My guess is too hrs basket considering so many are registered.

He sent through a heap of notes and documents he has written about the perentie over a number of years.......i think I posted a couple of extracts a while ago.

No. I don't. And that is my point.
I have worked for a company that did projects for the ADF. All the projects had design briefs and had to conform to relevant standards. Why would the project to develop and install the ROPS be any different?
When the registration authority registered thePerentie, all they were interested in was sighting the engine number, sighting the VIN and (as the VIN wasn't previously recorded) sighting the compliance plate and noting the date it was affixed.
Oh, and sighting the paperwork. Roadworthy, receipt, weigh bridge ticket, etc.
They didn't test it to make sure it complied with all the relevant ADR's.

All my point was clarifying your statement......I only know one person that has an issue with them being registered and or signing a roadworthy. Maybe he has it all wrong, although I reckon he could very well be correct as he lives and breaths this stuff day to day signing off modification to cars......

Many statements are made on forums.....somebody the other day said you needed to carry your rego papers in the car with you, I asked him for a reference but nothing was produced, buggered if I could find an answer on the net

    Direct from the Vicroads website.
Do I need to carry my receipt with me if I want to prove I’ve paid the registration?
That won’t be necessary. Victoria Police can identify whether your vehicle is registered through their mobile data terminals or via the Automated Number Plate Recognition technology.
Discontinuation of registration labels : VicRoads

Police ignore registration papers, labels and receipts. They only go by what is on the computer.
    Ask me how I know.

Those people on the forums have been watching too much American TV.

My ROPS has a LR part number on it (or at least the sticker on the ROPS does). I have a hazy memory of reading somewhere that the Army asked LR to make a number of modifications to the Perentie throughout its life.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. About to get on a plane to NZ, so will revisit all this in 2 weeks time. I might have a look over the ditch and see what I find for land rover stuff!

Weeds you whole argument falls over on 4 words as quoted above. His interpretation means nothing as it is his opinion and his only. The transport department could have an entirely different opinion and theirs is the one I would listen to, you will even get differing opinions from people within the transport department because they:-) will interpret the rules themselves. I can't understand why everyone is so worried about all these issues over compliance the facts are they were built to the ADR's of the time, and people are purchasing them, road registering them and enjoying them. If the government an army had any issues with them being sold to the public to be used on public roads, we would not be able to purchase them let alone register and drive them on public roads. We live in an age of litigation and I would suggest defence, federal government, state government, and AFM would not want a class action. So to all I say get a life, and stop all the miss information. One other thing I find hard to understand is Weeds you paint a picture of doom and gloom over these vehicles but you want one seem strange to me. If they are so unsafe why do you want one, I wouldn't want to go near one after I have read your various posts on this topic
    Cheers
    Rod
