Excellent, Mike. Good information that is well worth posting.

What I am more after is something along the lines of 'I used <tool> for <application on part>.

What got me thinking about this was when I greased my universals in the drive shafts. My grease gun nozzle would not fit properly on the nipple. When I find one that will, I'll post it up. That will be one of the tools I will add to my traveling toolkit.

Take your point Mick. Fortunately I haven't needed to do any significant repairs as yet so I can't add to your list. Except maybe for an excellent wheel brace with interchangeable sockets and an extendable, angled handle which also fits neatly on the spare wheel rachet and gives extra leverage on tight diff and oil drainage plugs etc. which came from Supercheap.
    Cheers

I've got the same problem, but I think that that the cause is that the universals have been fitted the wrong way around. If you look at the ujoint you will see that the grease nipple is offset. It would be OK I think if they were reversed

Mick, I think you are looking for the holy grail there. I haven't found a grease gun fitting yet that will do the job properly. I have tried a lot of different ones and they all leak - something to do with the angle. What I do now is when I do a service I remove the drive shafts and lube the unis while it is on the workbench. That way you can open up the unis and get the fitting on properly. Going to be a bit of a pain now with the 6by - an extra shaft to do. If you find one that works without leaking let me know. Maybe Blknight has a clue on this, he would have greased more than we have dreamed of I'm sure.

So, help me out fellow Perentians.
Post up what tool you used and what you used it for.
Why would a tool kit for a Perentie need to be any different to that of a civilian Isuzu Defender?

Yep. That's the whole idea of this thread. Not "I have a problem and how do I fix it?"
but "This has made life easier and I am sharing it with you."

Hopefully it will lead to a toolkit that will make living with a 6x6 a more pleasing experience. Tough ask I know. How can you improve on perfection?

I don't know. Why? Maybe this thread will answer the question. Maybe not.

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
