Thread: Nagging minor Perentie questions

1. Windscreen is the same as the defender, cast aluminium corners welded to aluminium connecting tubes. No need to rust proof.
2. It's pinch-weld seal. Fitted by the Army so not standard. Replacement pinch-weld available at places like Clark Rubber. Not sure of why they fitted it, possibly to stop water or perhaps reduce noise.
3. Yes they were, the jets were fitted between the two firewall air vents, same as the civilian 110 and defender.

With a little difficulty you can get to the back of the jet through the ash tray on the top of the dash. You may even find that the washer pipe is still there with the remains of the original jet.

I've been meaning to chase up a couple of queries re. the 110 Perentie specs for a while; but because they're minor things I've kept forgetting, so here goes while I remember:-

1. I'm assuming the windscreen surround on the Perentie is a cast item - there are reinforcing fins at the top corners which to me indicate casting rather than fabrication. If it is cast, I'm assuming alloy rather than steel just based on surface finish. My main concern is if there is likely to be a requirement for internal rustproofing.
2. My bonnet has a rubber sealing strip on the driver's-side, extending from front to back which seals against the top of the mudguard. The passenger-side has no seal. Should there be a mating seal there, or is there not meant to be a seal present i.e. air-flow for cooling
3. Were windscreen washers ever fitted to the 110 Perenties - I have a washer tank fitted but no signs of plumbing, though to be honest I haven't looked to see if a washer pump is installed to the washer tank.

As I said, minor queries but I thought someone familiar with the Perentie specs may know off the top of their head.

My Perentie has the same rubber seal on one side of the bonnet as you describe in your second point. Thanks for explaining Diana.

The rubber seal for the bonnet is a genuine land rover part ( for both sides )

The bonnet seal was fitted to my County when I got it - it makes a surprising difference to the noise level.
