Apple have a 14 day return policy. Just buy one and return it if you're not happy Returns & Refunds - Apple Store (Australia)
This is probably a long shot, but...
I'm looking at getting an iPad to test offroad mapping (nothing hard core, just not on gazetted roads), but not sure if it would suit. This is a must, and if it can't do it, I don't want one. All other features would be simply a bonus.
Anyone in SEQ keen to rent one to me for a few days? I would commit to ensuring the device returns in the same condition, or else I buy it, and willing to put a deposit it on it to suit.
Must be the 3G version so I don't have to tether a GPS to it.

I can assure you it works!!!!
A few others have done it too.
I also use mapping, a forms program and a scanner that I now use at the mine sites...
I'd rent you ours (hers) but SWMBO would never part with it.
From what I've read there's some good "pads" coming to market very soon which will be cheaper, with better features.
Settle down with the name calling.
I don't see anything dishonourable about doing this. It would be a legitimate test of the product to see if it fits a purpose, with the intention of buying it if it does.
Doing it just because you only ever want one for a few days would be different.
I imagine they would only accept it back if it's in perfect condition anyway, so probably no loss on Apple's behalf.
so can u explain how this works ryan?
do u plug pad into the ECU and use it to remap?
is software/apps exe?
would this replace the use of a nanocom? read faults etc?
also hows your new fender going? havent seen it yet.
would be very interested to know how u go with this.
