Since installing my new vid card I have been getting the odd vista error saying that the vid card had recovered from a serious error. Vista produces these when the vid card doesnt respond for two seconds,, vista say its a card problem and nvidea say its microsoft,,
what it is(or was) is a symptom.
Of imminent failure,,
yep, a total of 5 weeks use and the card failed,,

but wait theres more!

replaced the card with my old friend the 8800gt and alls well,, until--

on a reboot I get
"error loading operating system"

upon booting from the vista dvd i can see only one of my two raid drives, and that one is a primary, and I cant change it to active so I cant load the os,,

great day,,,

what has vista got to do with two hardware failures within 40mins of each other??
its not as though these parts were 2 dollar cheapies,,

just found the receipt for the drives,,
august 2009,,
now the big question, did they come with a 3 or 1 year warranty,,,

I would expect a black caviar drive to last longer though,,,

I would bet the controller on the board has gone rather than BC drives

no matter how much I beg and grovel, they keep giving me these stupid quadra 3800 cards and they wont do well at that sort of stuff

I don't have a fancy pc at home, get enough of em at work

I only have a 9800gt card at home, was a handmedown from a fellow with too much money to spend on graphics cards

But I agree Vista is a big chunk of your problem

Seem to see allot of WD blue drives failing very early, I get at least 1 a week out of about 400

Still better than the samsung's we had a few years back.

hmm,,

it seems while the WD edition of Acronis will backup a drive--
there is no way to recover it,,
it says it will but--

any ideas on what will unpack a tib file?
