At the moment i have a 2tb WD caviar black and a 1tb WD caviar black aswell as an SSD. I havn't had any problems with either of these drives however i have previously bought a 1tb WD caviar black and it died after about 2 weeks. I have owned samsung hdd's before also and never had a problem. In fact i think my brother in law is still using one of them which is about 10 years old

+1 black series
I always backup to 2 extra HDs, have recently started to upload important data to Google Drive.
Ended up going with a 2Tb WD black, and I now have a replacement 1Tb from Seagate.
The backup I did the night before it failed completely had some corrupt files on it so I've finished (I think) copying my photos over from the previous months backup. All in all I'm fairly happy having lost nothing (or at least minimal files)
