Jim - you might want to check that you keep Adobe Reader, Flash, etc up to date... this is a common attack vector for malware - as operating systems usually keep themselves patched.
Hey solved the problem although the original problem still exists. Talking with a friend this morning and he suggested I download the newest version of Adobe reader. It was then that the penny dropped. I had not downloaded any reader and the problem was within something in windows 8. I downloaded Adobe and all is fine. Thanks for suggestions. Jim

No just you!At least it is actively updating itself (*after* new vulnerabilities/exploits are addressed). The issue imho, are the applications which rely on the user to manually update.
