Thread: Windows 10

I have just finished installing w 10 and at first glance there seems little difference. I have the same home page with photo and all the normal shortcuts. I have read that the inbuilt games have videos built into them which play in the free mode but my computer still plays the games from w8. So what is going on. Am I running w10 or still on w8?

In the device manager Window its at the top of the tree all the devices come off. It will be named the name of you PC... mine is creatively named PC

Having reversed the upgrade on my Surface I thought I should keep up with the times and so upgraded my home desktop. Some issues so far:

Lock up on sleep. This was a common problem in beta releases. Hopefully a video card update will fix it.

"recent places" has gone missing when looking for or saving files. Or have I missed something?

Ads on Edge. They can't be blocked? Enough to send me back to IE. I don't think the access to favourites is an improvement on IE either.

On the plus side the PC does seem to boot quicker than W7.

Sorry, I was talking about my Galaxy tablet - I wouldn't even consider it on my phone yet. I think I'll just do nothing for a while until it all settles down - masterly inaction seems the way to go for now.

OK this not a direct problem with Win 10 but something to be aware of.
I have a small ASUS X44F which has a Cand D partition , and the D is supposed to be for data.
It was configured from new to store the data in C, so I have been wanting to switch data to D for a while.
I installed Win 10 no problems.
THEN THE FIGHT STARTED.
I tried to move the data files from C to D using the move folder facility in "Properties."
Win 10 somehow then renamed the desktop folder "documents" and renamed the picture folder "documents" so I had three sets of document files, which then displayed all files on the desktop.

After trying to find somehow to rename the folders, which AFAIK is not possible, I then reverted to Win 7 and was able to transfer the data to folders I had made on D named my documents, my pictures and my music.

This all took a LOT of time, so I will now attempt to reload Win 10 this arvo.
The message here to me is don't try to move folders in Win10.

I've got no issues with windoze 10.
Does what I want it to... but then again my usage is not as demanding as others.

I've just clicked and dragged a stack of folders to a new folder. However, Win 10 didn't update the view on the page, it looked like the folders were still in their original location - until I clicked on one and I got an error message. Once I exited File Explorer and then came back in, the view was refreshed and the moved folders were gone from the original location. The old press F5 to refresh the Explorer window trick didn't do anything.
