Bob is a stand alone adsl modem and voip phone all in one, you dont need your pc on to make a phone call but you do need to have the line sync'd to make a call - ie if it drops out, no phone.

At present I'm paying about $106 per month for my internet ADSL2 with phone bundle and calls that I make .
With BoB, No line rental, free local and national calls and a bigger download limit it works out a lot cheaper for less $$.
Pity you have to buy the router though. Thought they would have included a loyalty bit where the router is free unless you cancel before a set time. Like they did when they started the ADSL2

i'm with iinet and its pretty damn good, I usually get around 70 with a borad band test from iinet servr. obvoiusly real life internet will be much slower but still its faster than where i work and they have a dedicated, (uncontested) 10mb line.

the bob thing would be ok if you dont have an existing wireless dsl2+ router i just bought the voip box and added it to my existing wireless.

with naked the normal phone plugs into the modem so no need to have computer on BUT modem must be on for phone to work.I beleive BoB is same.

Dunno anything about it other than what I've seen in the ad, but I'm not really keen on having my main home phone line also being my network switch. It's not a reliabilty thing, just that there is no way to make a bunch of ethernet cables look anything other than a long sausage of crap.

I'm moving from Telstra, if I fart near my modem they charge me for it. I look forward to disconnecting from them but I need internet with no line rental.

Whoever pays line rental needs to seriously look at moving to VOIP. I've saved over $1500 in line rental costs alone since ditching that Telstra tax.
