    Go the Suspension Stuff gear.
    I had Dobinson springs and Suspension Stuff Shocks on my TDI Disco before I wrote it off. Did about 20000kms on them. This setup worked really well for me. Nice ride and handled really well off road. Now need to save my pennies to get another set for my "new" Disco V8i this time.

    Well I can finally report back on the suspension stuff kit. The new shocks finally arrived on Monday so over the last couple of evenings I've been fitting the kit (and driving mum's Corolla to and from work).

    Kit went on without drama's bar having to cut one front shock out (the nut wouldn't go and we rounded the pin section of the shock) and nearly cross threading the pin on one of the rear shocks . There wasn't much thread exposed to get the nut on and I thought it had gone on straight but that was not the case. A stressful 20 mins later after fixing the thread up we managed to get it on properly.

    I did purchase all new brake hoses for this kit too from Hosemart in Wanagara but I only fitted the rear hose as it wasn't long enough to allow the springs to slot in (flexi rear springs). The fronts I didn't worry about for the time being as they were plenty long (springs would fall out before the brake hose tightens) but I may replace them for the better feel when I do new pads and discs.

    On road driving is fantastic. I had the original dampers on (13 years old ) and there was bugger all damping with them. My dad made the comment when they were pulled out that it was surprising I hadn't crashed yet The car genuinely feels much safer to drive, there is much more control going around corners, and something as simple as exiting a driveway feels better.

    The shocks are on the firm side but this is how I like it.

    Offroad hasn't been tested yet and wont be this weekend. I first need to make up some extended bumpstops so the shocks dont get damaged and also have my housewarming this weekend so going to be tidying up (surprised I was allowed to play this week!!).

    As soon as I have taken it offroad I will report back on the performance.

    The shocks will loose their "tightness" and settle in shortly mate Good gear for the money I think

    I've had TJM XGS shocks and springs for a 50mm lift in for 5 years and they've been great. Fitted by a fourby shop in Bundaberg and cost about $1100 installed then, including a steering damper. They've been around a lot, including the Cape, and coped with the corrugations. Its set up for touring and towing a camper, not for rock hopping.
    The firmer suspension gives good handling and no skipping. However, I am considering fitting rear airbags so I can pump them up when towing for a bit of extra rear height, but still have the ride at other times.

    Ironman 4X4

    Just replaced the original shocks with Ironman Foamcells. So far they seem a bit bouncy but I suppose they will settle in soon enough. Old shocks required a hacksaw and angle grinder to remove as the bottom bolts were seized up. Only one did not require special tools(Grinder,etc).
    It's a let easier to change them with the wheels removed then working around the tyres. Got the Ironman shock for $550 (4) which I thought was ok as OME shocks were $680 with a two week wait. Up here in darwin everything is a two week wait!
    Anyone else had experience with Ironman shocks/suspension?
