    lt 77 shifter

anyone know if these grooves next to the silver springs in the gearstick of my lt 77 disco are supposed to be there.and if not do i have to buy the whole gearstick or perhaps is it possible to fill the grooves with weld and grind back

there you go don't know why it didn't work the first time.gearstick has been a little hard to move latley so i pulled the console out and found all the sound deadening 'spungy' stuff had disintegrated and fell into the hole around the gearstick

If you mean where the spring arms sit against the gearstick casing, i don't think there is meant to be grooves there, i just went and checked one i have out the back and it has very small grooves just starting, so my guess would be they arn't meant to be there, can't really see why you couldn't be able to fill them up with a couple of small tacks (welds) as long as you can grind them back smooth they should be fine

if we have another spare here i might beable to part with one cheaply
