The pipe has fallen off/broken as the system should be sealed and the pipe go forward to the evap system under the bonnet.

I just noticed a strong petrol smell on the way home and when I pulled in I saw petrol dripping out from under the car at the back where the tank is. A closer look (and an RACV visit later) told me that it was coming from the small hose which looks like it's the overflow hose that fills up if you put too much in. I don't think it's supposed to leak anyway from this but there is a pretty good chance I put too much petrol in last time I filled it up.
This happen regularly to anyone else?
I'll just run it on petrol until the level goes down a bit then put it back on gas![]()

I presume you mean the hose about 2.5cm diameter. I had this too and found the hose had cracked and perished causing it to leak. replacing the hose or a section of it should fix the problem. Trouble is the hose does go over the top of the fuel tank so replacement of the complete hose could be a bit tricky.

My 20 year old Rangie started leaking from the top of the tank when filled.
It was leaking out from the wiring at the top of the fuel pump.
Top middle of the tank.
The hose you are talking about is plastic tubing and should still be fine.
All things considered of course.
V8 tanks of that era crack where the breather hose enters the tank. There was a recall for this but not in Australia for some reason. I have seen in it 3 tanks now. I fixed it with an aftermarket long range tank![]()
