I went out with a guy a couple of weeks ago who had 33" with a 2" lift. He had the guards cut and flares fitted. He did say they touch slightly on flex and was going to cut the flares up a bit higher.
Hi All,Just wondering if someone can set me straight on fitting 33's (285 75 16) to my 96 v8.I have a 2" susp lift and run 245 75 16 at the moment , do I need a body lift or can I go higher in susp to fit the 33's under? I will be doing aguard cut at the same time.Thanks.....

Thanks David,Just wondering if you had any idea. where about they rubbed, and how much he had cut out.? Thanks.Brett...
To be rub proof and look the part you will need to get a body lift 2", flares, and cut the guards you will also need -25mm off set rims or you will have the turning circle of the titanic.
Seriously, I have 265/75/16 I have had several brands for over 150 000 km and I am going back to a smaller size, probably 235/75/16 until I can afford to do all of the above but I am also going to go for Ashcroft heavy duty axles and 4.11 crown wheels and pinions to keep the engine in it's power band. then you will have to get your steering sorted out to make it enjoyable, I am looking at getting my hub bolt holes elongated so the caster angle can be set to optimum. I am also going to get it all engineered to be legal. When looking at an all up cost of all of the above including the engineering I am looking at 5 to 7k for the upgrade.
I'm not trying to put you off but just spelling out the reality of a insurance passed set of modifications, as I said I am going to do the above once the $$ are spare and cant wait to tell you the truth. The above cost for me also includes a fair bit of labour as I no longer have the access to a workshop.
of course with all of that I am also going to go for 35's
then an Eaton 112 super charger
but if you choose to do it, do it properly and you will never regret it.

With a propper guard cut and flexi flares a 2'' lift should be alright and if the tyres still rub you could fit some 1'' spacers or so under the springs for a bit of extra hight

I have 33x12.5x15's on my 94 Disco, it has a 2" spring lift and cutout guards with flares fitted, don't have a problem with rubbing, Regards Frank.
Blitz, did you have to cut the guards to fit 265/75/16s?
