Its common for the air intake to whistle. cover half the intake with your hand when it makes the noise.and see if it goes away.ajusting the idle stops it.

i had the whistling belt tensioner, replaced the bearing and shimmed it with a washer, good as gold now

Did it sound anything like this, by any chance?

Discovery 2, 1999, v8 Gasoliine (P38).
Started a few days ago, squeels like so at low rev, shuts up when over 1500/2000 rpm.
Any idea?
