Relays
Well I have found out finally why my truck has been cutting out intermittently......failing fuel pump relay.......this was found after replacing the coil, amp module, leads, rotor, dizzy cap and a swap of a MAF......
My question is.....I have lots of relays that have done the job to get the pump going but they are generic Siemens ones, the fuel relay was a Bosch and metal top, does anyone have any advise on whether I should replace with a Genuine part or will any relay do for this application???? Why is there a difference between the fuel relays and the one for the wipers for instance....metal top compared to a plastic top.....
I can't seem to find any info that will help

The fuel relay recommended has either diode or electronic protection for the ECU so they are different.
But the latest ones are not too expensive.
I cannot remember the details and I do not have time to delve in my spares box at present so can someone remember the brand . A google of "surge protected relays " should find it.
