Mine did the same thing after a day playing in the mud, i stopped the car for to air up and went to go home and no go. I had the starter motor reconditioned, starter solenoid was buggered and the rest of the motor was full of silty crap.Originally Posted by El Duderino

Now for a really stupid question...where's the starter motor hiding? It wasn't immediately obvious with a quick look, but I also haven't had a look under the engine bay. Night time struck before I had a chance to get too far into diagnosis after work today.
As for the mud hire one of those Britex carpet cleaners from Woolies or coles with the upholstery attachment and steam clean the carpets, helps get rid of the smell and cleans the carpets up a treat.

I had limited time after work tonight (yay for having to work late...not!), but have established that the starter motor assembly is shagged. Normally I'd be ****ed off, but luckily the sister dealership I work at has Land Rover, so getting a cheap replacement is only a phonecall away in the morning.
Anyway, I haven't got all the pics yet, but here's a few in sequence to have a laugh at. I made it through the first time, but these are from the second ambitious charge, lmao!
