if the relay doesnt click in or the power doesnt turn up at the starter solenoid/aux Relay thats usually the case.. it might also be the contact on the switch position in the ignition switch (where you put the key in) for starting has gone, Ive seen that a couple of times.

I thought I would post what the outcome on my problem was.
Slowly I noticed it was getting worse. Everytime to start I needed to hold the key in the cranking position sometimes for up to 5 seconds before anything would happen, still managed to get her going everytime, although I was beginning to wonder for how much longer.
There was some clicking going on in front.
Rick said it was the starter although I was starting to convince myself it was the ignition switch.
Anyway put a new starter motor in and problem solved. Starts at the touch of the key.
So if anyone on the Gold Coast has a use for the old Bosch starter to use as a core for reconditioning, they are welcome to it.
