    Discovery 1 (early) Ac Problem

I'm posting this in electrical as well because I think that is where the problem lies.

Ok, some history. When I got the discovery last year (early 1994 [my1993] 200TDi) the ac was not functional.

The belt was missing, the belt tensioner mount had been snapped and the tensioner gone! Replaced all of the above, had it regassed and tested and it worked well. Sometimes one of the relays would buzz when starting her up with the AC on. My Mech also said another part of the system was a bit sorry. Condensor, dehumidifier??

Anyway, it's warming up now, and I tried it the other day. Nothing.

The engine didn't appear to be laboring when it was turned on (changing in note at all) so I checked and the center part of the AC pump stays unmoving when it is turned on, indicating that the clutch is not engaging ??

Fuses appear fine. I thought it was a relay, but I replaced the buzzing one, and it just clicked, but the next day, started buzzing again.

I have a haynes manual, but it has no complete wiring diagram. I've not seen a factory manual for one this age. And the list of relays is ambiguous, and there is more relays in the three locations than it lists. Any ideas??

Gas leaked out maybe. The compressor won't enagage this happens.

Have you been using the A/C regularly ?
It should be run for a few minutes each week to keep the seals lubricated.

If it has separate low pressure and high pressure switches on teh receiver dryer, bridge both in turn . If the compressor then starts, you have Identified the low pressure switch and you have no gas.
If there is only one switch bridge the wires on the switch on top and ditto.
    Don't run it long.

    Mmm, No

Hopefully not that, but it sounds like a visit to my mechanic may be in order for a quick look.

Phil, that sounds like a good idea, I may have to try that one!!
