A bit of sealant under the flame trap, then reconnect the breather to its rightful place on the inlet manufold. This provides slight vacuum to keep fumes under control. Also stops oil rotting Impco mixers.
Despite various opinions posted here on this topic, there is NO RISK of a backfire with the standard breather. I do it this way all the time. The breather re-route is for cars with PCV systems (positive crankcase ventilation) which is not the case with D1's.
