I went to get mine rodded a little while ago and when they cleaned it out and ran the rods through it started leaking heaps...turns out the gunk that was in there was holding the water in so they had to do a total re-core which ended up costing around $600.

I hadn't had any overheating problems before that, only that the fans seemed to kick in at the drop of a hat and after I had that done they seemed to take a lot more driving to get them going.

The original was a 4 flow (I think that's how they describe it) I think and they had to put a 3 flow in but they said that it was still a great radiator and shouldn't be a hassle. If it's old enough and they try to rod it they might just end up telling you you need a new one anyway if it's anything like mine was...funny though I haven't heard of that happening to that many others on this forum when I was talking about getting it rodded before I had mine done...hope they didn't just take me for a ride eh

Thanks for that mate. I had the same thing happen with a water pump. Worked fine, flushed the gunk out and it opened up the leak.

I'll find out how much a recore costs, there is a place in lithgow aswell, im happy to drive over there if they are cheaper.
