    Cost of spares

    Hi all,

What you be the expected cost of the following spares for a '96 D1 V8i? LandRover price and a price where you would buy it from. I would like to do a comparison. I think this would be an interesting topic

    The spares are:
    - fan clutch
    - expansion tank cap
    - power steering box

I'm sure there will be more dares to come.

    Thanks
    Shaun

dunno about prices (stab in the dark with the rad cap $20) but M R automotive at redcliffe is one supplier and most probably the nearest to you.
there are others around it depends on how far you want to go

EBAY is all i have to say! do a search on all these items and u will find them. i usually buy parts of ebay as i find it easier, but i guess it depends on the individual.
quick ebay search fan clutch new OE 275, steering box new over 500!!

or if you dont need them urgently, order from the uk

paddocks for example, have the viscous unit (fan clutch) for 43.99
the expansion tank cap is 3.50
power steering box is 209.79 with a 100 pound exchange charge included

of course all the prices above are in pounds (GBP)

i have just ordered a heap of stuff from paddocks and here in victoria at my supplier would have cost about $1300, from paddocks including postage the total came to $490, it takes about a week for delivery once they post it

there are savings to be made, thats for sure!

    Also try Karcraft Australia
They have the Power steering pump for $480 and fan clutch for $150
Send them an email and they will send you a complete parts list (with pricing)

I checked out Paddocks web site, boy they are cheap
but are the parts good quality??
for example I got quoted for a heavy duty ckutch kit in Aus $400, Paddocks is $60, so it will be landed at my door for a lot less, which keeps the boss happy,
if they are any good let me know and I will place my order

I've been using them for years,no problems with quality. Also check out John Craddock and Rimmer Brothers. The only thing I can say that freight costs have jumped over the last couple of years but in most instances still way cheaper then buying here.

    hi everyone,

some place for example sell those parts for:
    viscous hub $250.00
    overflow cap $20.00
power str box $990.00 yes scarey but one lump sum is better than...
$50 bucks for a seal kit $250 on a second hand box or $500 on a reco box which depending on whats wrong may end up costing more

as far as uk parts yeah its cheap cant argue with that, but you have to ask what version are you getting becasuse qaultiy varies, and then way up if its still cheaper to buy qty of 2 or 3 because they cant supply the same level of warranty as your local supplier.

Anyone tried a dealer lately, you would be suprised to see how much the prices for the earlier Disco's have dropped.

    EG: Steering box $495.00

    Cheers
