I'm in the middle of this excercise right now with my 3.9 litre. Previously I had put in a brand new short engine, the heads were reco'd and fitted with all new top end gear. Elring gaskets were used but failed.

The gasket lasted just 40,000kms and then there was coolant tracking across the gasket and leaking into Number 2 pot. Not happy Jan doesn't cover it at all. Symptons were a misfire and the smell of burning coolant. The heads are away being redone as I type this. Still not sure what gasket to use this time around on reassembly.

Just spoke to the very helpful guys at triumph rover spares in Adelaide. They have a graphite head gasket
Based on my experience and others on here , I would go with that.Well I did go with that so I would say that wouldn't I.

If some-one could "throw us a bone" and add a part number for the mint graphite one, I would be appreciated of it
