ok, im not intending on going silly or anything, but what would you say i could expect? i've owned plenty of normal cars, but this is my first 4wd
congratulations on your 5000th post by the way :-).
No but be careful and take it easy until you are used to teh different driving characteristics.would i damage anything if i remove the front prop shaft until i can get all of this sorted out?

Wow and I don't count them. Rewards for age I guess.
look I don't really have much experience. I think I did it once many years ago and the car seemed to get more body roll on corners. You could expect more understeer if you go too fast, as the Front drive "pulls" the front around corners when you are accelerating. Remember you have toe OUT on the front while most RWD cars have Toe IN.
The whole thing felt Loosy goosy.

I drove home from jamieson at Easter with only front wheel drive after blowing my rear diff. Wasn't that bad but I wouldn't do it all the time. But I think he was saying remove the front prop shaft and drive rear wheels only. which would be fine
Just remember that once you take out the front prop shaft you will need to lock the diff lock in or it won't go anywhere![]()
Ok, your an idiotfitting different size tyres will ruin the centre diff, you can lock the centre diff and drive rear only just it'll be looser to drive, should ask questions prior! Don't keep driving it as is
so i've removed the front prop shaft and the sound apears to of disappeared.. I'll head to blacktown pick-n-payless tomorrow to see what they have.
quick question, because the sound has now disappeared, is it safe to assume that it was definately from the transfer case, or was it possibly the front diff?
and if it definately is the transfer case, would it be a complete rebuild or what exactly?
eddie
for a start, get 4 tyres all the same size, then evaluate the problems (if any) from there

Really Eddie no one can diagnose a problem from your description. As
Jazza D1 said put 4tyres the same size on and see what happens then.
You could jack up the front and see if thereis any funny feeling, or if the driveshaft turns if you turn one wheel. Hopefully you didn't drive it on bitumin in difflock with the different size tyres or you may have done a CV joint, diff , or centre diff.
