    X-Trail to Discovery.

First car i bought for myself was a nissan xtrail, owned it for 6 months. Then lost it to a Boy racer in a nissan silvia who also took out two other cars at the same time. See first photo.

And this is what i picked up today, to replace it after a three month wait for insurance payment. see second picture.

    1997 Disco 1.
    Reco engine with 22000kms
only minor scuffs and one small ding.
    Brand new Khumo tyres.
New brake rotors, hubs and wheel bearings.
new radiator with reco engine (cooked engine on mount ousley due to lack of water).

Looking forward to next weekend when i can take it off road for the first time along with dads ( the booger) s3.

Nice, looks like mine except mine's a diesel with a ARB bar. Pretty much indestructable if looked after. Sometimes I wish I had an auto, then I get into the snow or Flinders and thank god I have a manual. The ZF's in these things like to take the higher gear instead of the gear you want. Clutch has lasted me almost 8yrs and 180,000kms with and original clutch fork!!!! (With lots and lots of anti-sieze paste on the pivot ball).
Good luck offroading, you don't need all the bells and whistles that you might read on hear. take is slow until you and the car fit each others capabilities.

    cheers Luke

Good choice to replace the X-Trail. I spent a week during the heavy rains at Fraser Island towing my brother-in-law's X-Trail like a sled through the inland tracks. The excessive rain had turned the normally easy tracks into a sandy-muddy sludge. The tracks even claimed a 100 series land cruiser up to its axles. The Disco 1 when driven correctly won't let you down off-road.
