    Electric Water Pump

Hi there, New Member, Bought a 1 owner 98 Disco V8, only had it under a month, but now that the weather is really heating up I am noticing the temp gauge start to rise to the top white mark on the highway if the air con is running at 110km/h. However switching the A/C off brings the temp back down to the middle of the gauge within mins.
I have a good friend who has checked and updated my coolant, we checked all three engine fans working well. I am wondering if anyone has used or heard anything about the Davies Graig Electric Water Pump.
Being a previous Jag Lover/Owner, I am keen to nip the heating issues in the butt early.
Any help or advise would be greatly apprecaited.

    Cheers
    XK150.

Before you go down that path get you radiator checked out as it may be partially blocked also with the AC on you will notice an increase in the running temp of it.

Rough gauge is no AC just under mid line with AC a bit over mid line

    Hi XK150

Heating issues ..... The proper solution ....

    You take the radiator OUT
Either get it rodded or buy a new one
Install a coolant filter system to the TOP radiator hose

    The viscous fan clutch ....
Sounds as tho yours is working ... However .... Make sure it is working or just stick in a new one

Electric water pumps? ..... I don't see the point of putting your dollars there
Buy a new normal pump if you insist ...

    Cheers
    Mike

Well I reckon you should have your rad checked also, as IMHO the gauge should not move aircon off or on. This refers to RRC 3.9 but AFAIK Disco is the same.
The gauges are programmed not to move between AFAIK 88 and 100 or so, so if it moves then you are getting up there.

I agree with you but this has done exactly the same with the old radiator and a brand new one, also when I got the 4.6 fitted it was removed and rodded at the same time. Its been doing this for over ten years so I'm figuring it is normal. When I hunt down a high efficiency one or larger or a mack truck wreak I will fit another new one. The new one I had fitted was supposed to be a high efficiency one truth is I cant say I saw any difference always have to be careful in mud/sand.

And also had water pump replaced on the old engine that also made no difference, I now have a TM2 digital read out with alarm for security

to be on the safe side, take a laser/IR thermometer to the top hose in both conditions and see what that says

My D1 V8 Auto temp gauge hardly moves with air con on or off. This was the same last week with a car on the trailer and 1100kgs of steel shelving. It does have a Ford V8 viscous coupling. Have not finished setting up the twin fans yet. Am getting them ready to fit when this coupling dies.
