just fixed the canary in the engine bay with a coin behind the tensioner, and feel like a champ. let's see how long this lasts.

^ there's a very real possibility that instead of that (above post), i've ****ed **** up.
i was driving today, and i shredded my aircon belt, with the drive belt following close behind.
i'm assuming it's something i've done.
anyway, stopped the car, got rid of the shredded rubber, and limped home, and now i gotta fix it.
as luck? would have it, my 'spare' aircon belt arrived a few days ago, and the drive belt today. (weird)
i'm geussing to remove and replace these belts i'll have to remove the radiator. while i'm doing that, i'm guessing its a good time to fit my white header tank, and a coolant flush? is it worth doing hoses as well? they seem ok, but i just don't know.
just sounding my ideas out there lads. also your advice on cleaning the pulleys before i fit the new belts?
as mentioned previously i'm no mechanic, but i'm willing (perhaps excited?) to give it a shot.

There's no need to remove the radiator, at least for the main belt (never changed the aircon belt).
But you should replace that old tank anyway.
I made sure my pulleys were clean and free from play. There could be a reason the belts are snapping, other than old age.

mate the coin trick is just a temp fix,get new pulleys and the chirping should go away plus you wont shred belts, both belts can be changed with radiator in, if your not sure about hoses, its good insurance to change them, best to start noing the age of these types of things on your engine, give peace of mind and save heart ache at a later stage

yowzers....
it seems i gotta get the top pulley off the aircon compressor, which is difficult, as it spins freely... any tips?
i can kinda get to the other pulleys with the fan and radiator in, it'd be heaps easier with the fan off... any tips?
off to the search button.

also, this has been bugging me.
