Ring MR Automotive in redcliffe, tell them what you put in the thread.

they will ask for your credit card number, give them this, they will then ask you where you want the bits delivered. Tell them your home (or work, or where the works being done) address.

in 2-4 days a box will appear with everything you need parts wise but not the timing pins or the crank holding tool.

theres plenty of threads on here to help you out with making or obtaining those.

    Best of luck

Also a good idea to get the Bearmach solid lipped crank gear and INA bearings. The other type with spot welded lipped crank gear have been known to fall apart. Karcraft in Syd supplied the complete kit you mentioned apart from the water pump gasket that you don't need unless your taking the water pump off (not required for a timing belt change). Also remind your mechanic that the belt tension has also been revised down to 11nm.

You need kit STC4096L, this includes everyting you need for the job apart from the crank oil seal. They are about $300 for the whole kit or half if you buy from the UK.

Or you can get the belt and the timing cover gasket and seal and not bother with the rest.

You have a 98 so it will already have the updated timing cover and back plate and the rest of the stuff you don't need to change unless it's noisy or broken.

I know I will get flamed for this but I have changed my belt 3 times and only ever changed the belt the gasket and the seal other than when I did the fan bearing as well.

It's up to you but it's a lot of money and labour to change all that when it's really not necessary.

you can typically get away with 2 belts to a set of bearings/idlers and you can reuse the studs as often as you like...

However usually when I'm doing them I dont know how many times its been reused so as I'm forced to do the lot I dont advertise the short order list unless specifically asked, I dont offer any kind of guarantee or warranty on shortlist work.

For Mr F: Mr C is half right - you don't have to replace all those things every time you replace a belt. Roughly, for a 98, do a full version when you first get the vehicle, and then you can be confident that all you will need for the next 2-odd belt changes will be the belt. And, if you do the big version, get a pair of new Woodruff keys ( ERR5215 ) for the crank nose. They do wear a little and having the pulley tight on the crank nose is important for a 300tdi.
( On that, when your mechanic puts it back together, use a big washer on the crank pulley bolt - one of minor hiccups with the 300tdi is that if there is a bit of crud in the bolthole or if the bolt has stretched a little, the bolt won't torque correctly and the timing pulley eventually flops around and interferes with timing). And, lastly, if you have to replace the water pump gasket, also do the P gasket behind it ( search the forum with that term, plenty of posts about it) part number PET100790.

You say you can buy Cam Kit Parts cheaper in the UK. May be if you want to do the job while your there you can,By the time you pay postage to Australia, you may as well buy the parts local. Just been down that road.(Prove me wrong if you can,im looking for the same parts now at a realistic Price)
