    help hot 3.9 disco

    gday everyone i have just done an engine and gearbox swap in my 96 discovery was a manual now auto , but heres my problem it overheats when driven only a short distance i know the engine i bought and it was running fine but since ive fitted it we have this problem have done thermostat ,swapped clutch fans ,and checked water pump radiator was recently serviced and is all good but i think its more serious after a short drive tnight the exhaust manifolds glowed orange could it be running lean causing it to overheat maybe i have connected something wrong i notice a vacum line to fuel reg could this b cnnected in the wrong place it previosly had a mod chip in computer which i didnt get do they change things that need to be reversed im lost and ready to burn the bloody thing

    Sounds like the timing is way out. I had this issue years ago.

    thanks blackbuttdisco you were right on the money the timing was way rtetarded must have been bumped during removal or install of the engine thanks heaps mate

    Also check that the cooling system is completely bled. They can be tricky at times.
