Easy, just get new friends.
My 97 Disco 1 TDI/Manual is with me for about 1/2 year. I bought it for the same reasons as everybody. Absolutely in love with it, especially the brilliant viewing angle, just like riding a horse.
But but but, so far, no one has given me a positive feedback, female friends are complaining it's too difficult to climb up, male friends are laughing at it's old school design and the noisy diesel engine.
Are you guys facing the same problems too?
Very common question: 1)WHY THIS? 2)WHEN ARE YOU GONNA CHANGE YOUR CAR?
My answers: 1)I just love it 2) I will keep my Disco
Easy, just get new friends.
MY08 TDV6 SE D3- permagrin ooh yeah
2004 Jayco Freedom tin tent
1998 Triumph Daytona T595
1974 VW Kombi bus
1958 Holden FC special sedan
Get side steps for the ladies (though if they can't get a leg up over the edge of the disco.. nvm...)
for the male friends...pfft, replace em... or pull 'em out of a ditch next time they fall in one with whatever they're driving....
Just ditch all your friends. You'll have heaps more time to fix oil leaks.
^ good advice.
Just make sure you replace your friends with LR people, to help you fix the leaks!![]()
Do what i do and give them more **** back!!!
OR
Agree on how much of a POS it is and the fact that it's like that special needs child you can't help but love... (no offence intended to anyone)
Cheers

Ditch the short fat girls for taller more athletic girls, and ignore the diesel calls, if you had the V8, they would say it sounds nice, but then hassle you for having to stop for petrol so often.

This is not sad really.
It's more a revalation (s) on life itself.
You've seen the light and got a great car,, now you need great friends.
Great friends won't bag you out ever time your near your car, and will understand why you love it so much,, (even if they don't agree with you).
Your circle of friends will change depending on what/where you are in life, they tend to change with their choices, and yours.
Don't be sad, you can make some adjustments to your car to help them,, (so long as its worth the effort, and achieves YOUR end goal), or you can choose not to.
My partner hates our new car,, bad luck,, I love itBut don't get me wrong, she loves the thought of where it will get us in the end.
I have a disco my other half a prado, she bags the proverbial out of my car until serious off road is planned then she doesn't mention her car just how do you want the landy packed
As the sticker on the rear window of my D1 says "Land Rover- The heart and soul of 4WD".......... 'nuff said
