    Steel wheels for D1

The Disco I am getting has shiny chrome 15" wheels, with relatively new highway bias tyres.

Eventually when these need replacing I'll want to get some steel 16" wheels and A/T tyres.

I had some Dynamic (or Kings - nearly the same thing anyway) on my Defender and really liked them.

Not sure though whether there is a specific offset needed for the Disco or whether the 'normal' ones do the job. Best to go for 7" or 8" width?

Also do you reckon that they'd look best in the standard black, or colour-coded to the vehicle (deep red/maroon type of colour)?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I agree, chrome black or silver is the best option. Colour code steel wheels don't look good.

The rims you had on the defender should suit the D1. Without modifing the guards you could go out to 0 offset.
    Cheers, David.

I went through this a while back

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ml#post1777330

Love these rims they seem to be the perfect match(offset and image wise) to the disco on 245/75/r16

From memory I had to get them shipped across from QLD so you might be able to pick them up locally pretty cheap. weight wise they are about 50%more than that of a standard disco rim and visibly thicker steel

    Does look good (your pic)

    ProComp link:
    Pro Comp - Australia - Series 87

In the end it was Procomp Series 87 with +12mm offset and 245/75/R16 Bighorns
To what extent did you have to trim the guards?

Do you have a lift on your car?

you can see the trim in that photo it was just the standard camel cut lift wise It has a an old set of +2 variable king springs which a closer to 1 these days(it's certainly not as high as other +2" lifts I've seen)

I did have to take a rubber mallet to the lip at the top of the guard but that was it

the offset still lets the tyres tuck right up in the guards while allowing me to wind the steering stops out to keep the turning circle

Where you been hiding, camel cut is a trim to the rear portion of the rear guard allowing for larger tyres to tuck up into the guards without shredding your tyres or bending panels. Good for up to 32" 10-11" wide tyres.

    loanrangie...

I've been in the Defender forum where we didn't have to concern ourselves with such things..
Also I wondered where the terminology came from.

    Distortion - cheers for that.
