    300tdi heater hose routing

    Hello all,
I'm in need of a quick bit of help.... basically I don't remember which heater matrix connection goes where. I'm in the process of replacing the two heater hoses and I made the mistake of removing them before I wrote down their position. oops.

Can someone so kindly please tell me the order.

Top of the head exiting vertical and the horizontal pipe that comes arcoss the head.

    Really appreciate the help. Thanks.

I'm not near by Disco at the moment, but I had the same problem when I changed my heater hoses. I figured it out quite easily by the length of the hoses. Give that a try. Otherwise I will look tomorrow ... (hopefully remember).

Thanks for the help Justin. Right now the heater hoses that I'm using are not the factory models. Just regular old lengths of heater hose from the parts store.

I guessed and put it together last night and ran it around the block to bleed the cooling system. No heater! figures.

So I'm not sure if I hooked it up backwards or if I still have an air lock.

I'm gonna switch them and give it a try again.

    Thanks again.

Vertical pipe from the back of the head goes to the left pipe on the firewall.

Did you have it the right way?

Also I wouldn't go far if you don't have the heater working. Probably means you're not circulating coolant through the radiator.

    I guessed wrong.

Thanks for the conformation. I shall switch them around in the morning and give it another go.

And you are right about not circulating any coolant. I've spent all day trying to get this pesky coolant system bled. Do you have any suggestions?

Fill at the radiator top bung first. When that overflows, put the bung in and fill from the thermostat housing. When that overflows put the bung in. If the plastic tank is not already at correct level, top it up. Make sure your heater is on when you start it.
