Thread: swivel hub seal advice

Put the wheel face down on the floor and when you take the swivel/hub out of the axle place that face down into the wheel. -makes life a lot easier when swapping the seal! Also get a long handled ratchet spanner as it makes undoing the axle bolts a lot quicker and they are tight all the way to the end of coming out.
+ wear some latex gloves and have a can of brake cleaner to hand, makes clean up far easier

Tell me how you go, as I need to do this on drivers side of my 96 but it has oil, & I'm a first timer too.

Thats how i did mine as well, i also unbolted the whole hub/swivel housing from the axle tube and left the half shaft in place.

Whereabouts did you get the kit from? How much?

Its just a seal and some one shot grease.

Not sure if its any good as I haven't personally fitted one........
But britpart do a cv type boot that covers the swivel ball....the idea being that it keeps out dust and grime that would normally stick to the ball and tear the seal.
Was around £30 when I saw it a few years ago, may be worth a go as your doing the seals anyway?
Going to fit them to my classic next time I have to do my seals if I remember

I've seen them but i think they would also keep the crap in like mud and moisture and promote rust .
