Im guessing the non response to this means it is not a common problem..probably indicating an issue with the switch..or the motor. I'll pull the swtich and give it a clean.
In the last month or so, on 2 occasions, the drivers window was not able to be operated-once stuck down and once up. Each time it spontaneously resolved back to normal operation.
Any ideas what I should look for?
thks

Hey mate,
This is a common issue with the rear windows on a D1, but as far as I know not all that common on the fronts. Still, it could be the little control module causing you issues with dry solder, etc.
Have a quick seize at it, if you do a quick search on here you will find a few threads on fixing the rear window issue, it may help you.

I have done the rear window ecu fix ..good idea to check for for more dry solders.
Any power to the windows when it gets stuck? Can you hear anything from the motor trying to work?
Had a customer in this morning with the same problem, no time to check it out though, but first step would have been to check power supply to the motor. Either motor issues or worn window switch maybe? Window was stuck in the down position, it looked too low! I think his problem was mechanical, jammed mechanism.
If he come back in and I find the issue I'll be back.
Good luck
no- no sounds of any kind when this happens
Mate, remember to check the dumb things as well, like the plug into the switch is still in, etc. I still think checking the controller is a good idea. If that gets you nowhere then rip off the door trim and check if the motor is getting any power when the switch is pressed.
