    Slow to start

1994 Disco 1 has always started almost instantly until injectors were servic ed.Now turns over several seconds before starting, after standing for an hour or more. 2 mechanics no help. Thought fuel rail may be losing pressure but then on 2 occasions after vehicle not used for 1 month started instantly!
    Any ideas? Cheers

Thought it may have been, in which case I don't think I can help, I have had experience with Land Rover Tdi Diesel starting problems but not fuel injected Land Rover V8's.
But I'm sure that there will be someone on the forum that knows what the problem might be and be able to steer you in the right direction.

Does it still do it if you turn your key to on position and leave it a few seconds before you try to crank it? This lets the fuel pump prime the rails first, its posible the pump may be on its way out. Either that or an electrical fault if its ok sometimes then plays up. Also check for fuel leaks eg external leaks and also check if the fuel is returning to the tank via a leaky check valve.

Thanks for replies. The puzzling thing is that on 2 occasions after being idle for over a month the beast started instantly, but otherwise slow to start after being idle for longer than for as little as an hour. It always starts, but only after turning over for longer than is normal.
    Cheers
