    Alternator Bearing Removal & Squeek!

**** SORRY NOT ALTERNATOR - AC COMPRESSOR BEARING **** (had stupid moment there lol )

    Hi Guys,

I have typed this problem in my introduction post but i think i wrote it in the wrong section so il try again...:P
as i have had no luck searching for my problem online so hoping someone might be able to shed some light

Im in the process of trying to pull the "pulley" off the AC Compressor in my 300tdi so i can get the bearing replaced but iv gotten the cover off and removed the circlip but from here i cant figure out the next step, as i read on a post on AULRO that it should just slide off, but mine doesnt so im wondering if someone has the solution as i need to get the bearing fixed so i can then put the AC belt back on and get the aircon regassed

Your heading says alernator, but I will reply for the AC pump as in your question.
It might be tight but once you have everything undone try gently tapping it forward with a nylon mallet or soft copper/brass hammer. Might spray in some penetrene onto the shaft too. Once you have the pulley off, you will need to grind off where the bearing is peened in, then press it out. Re-installation is reverse, re peen with a sharp punch. The bearing shop may tell you that you cannot do this (or they did to me) but it works well. The bearing you should need, for a 300 TDI is: NACHI Bearing, full number on the box is 30BG5222-2DSE - this is what it is fitted with from original - SKF number is 30 BG5, should cost $35 - $40 +GST

I tried it and failed I used a rubber mallet and I was hitting it from behind the pulley wasn't a lot of clearance but it budged a little ...though don't know if I was doing it right, looks like I might have to show it to my mechanic and see what he can do

Keep turning the pulley so you tap evenly all around, it will bind up if you only hit it in one place. Tap it back again, then try removing it again, should eventually loosen up. Do a Google search for Nippon Denso 10 PA 17, click on images - you will see a few results there which show the pulley off and the bearing replacement etc. Might help you see what to do.
