The new window regulator arrived Monday (thankyou Heather and Mario), replaced it yesterday afternoon and all good now. I'm getting faster at this replacing 2 within approximately 4 weeks. I'd replaced the rear drivers side roller wheel in the window regulator several years back so the only window not done is the near side rear window. I'll put that on my list of things to do

Last night the driver's side regulator has gone out in sympathy but unlike the passenger window the driver's side won't stay up . I've gaffer taped the window up and ordered a replacement regulator from Heather and Mario. Has to happen when there is heavy rain around Sydney last night

This will be next week's job!

    Smooth steering

Replaced the lower steering assembly on my '93 Disco. 1/2 hr job and the clunky wobbly feel has gone. pretty sure it was worn from many km's of unaligned wheels and worn tie rods... (from previous owner) how people can drive around with such obvious faults is beyond me. all four tyres were worn out of shape when I purchased it, so they knew there was a problem and kept moving the wheels around to keep it from wearing away completely.

But now! rides like a bought one!

Angry Nearly Wiped her out :(

Took a bend at 5am, on a well surfaced two-lane road, and had a single lane “colonial” bridge pop up, 5 meters away. Got her onto the bridge, but hit the right barrier. The H-irons and steel rivets of the trusses did not scratch, but my front-end did!

The cargo-straps and rear rope held, or boat would have been in the river.

    Dropbox - Front end.jpg

Now I am desperately looking for a complete front bumper and an alloy wheel. Very hard to come by, here…. I don’t wonder why!

Any suggestions on getting the parts from Aus?

I had the same model D1 in Queensland 5+ yrs ago, with the original V8 but with gas-injection. This old girl (who was brought to Sri Lanka in 1998, for a visit by Prince Charles), now has a 300tdi. Went very well until a few weeks ago .

I have done a couple of clutch fluid swaps where the fluid has a black/dark tinge to it. As the system is sealed - i presume this is a sign of the black rubber seals perishing in the cylinders?

Maybe. This car had been sitting for a number of years, so maybe a combination of that and moisture ingress.
Had a bit of trouble bleeding, master cylinder seemed sticky, maybe time for a new one.

Should have a bumper and maybe even a wheel to match. Your location says Qld , is this not the case ??

I am in Sri lanka now, but I should be able to pick up a bumper and wheel in Qld an have it shipped out. Let me know if this would be possible from your end?

    Ta
