I vote gearbox.
No other reason than it's most logical.
Obviously fluid level is correct.
Hi folks, for the last two weeks my Automatic 98 300Tdi has developed a lag when accelerating from the lights. I initially thought it was the transmission which i had replaced about a year ago but the transmission mob think otherwise. Basically from a stationary position i depress the accelerator and the revs go up but it takes a good five seconds to get going which happens with a clunk. Fuel filter is new as is oil and oil filter and transmission fluid is at correct level. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Sean

The other 2% made it home.
Cost difference between Britpart and Genuine seals: £2.04. Knowing that your brakes won't fail at any moment: Priceless.
If engine revs up it's gotta be the gearbox. Torque converter maybe?

Sounds very like low line pressure in the transmission. Get it checked by someone else ASAP if you are not happy with the reply from the first mob.
