    TJM / Kaymar

I've got a TJM and it's been a great bit of gear and fits well. Almost looks stock. Good size step, too (comes out a bit further than stock - about as far as a 265/75 spare). Well made, solid and dependable. I got it second-hand about a decade ago from a bloke upgrading to a D2. I'd get another one without hesitation. Some gratuitous pics attached from the last trip

Mate had a Kaymar and it was well built but didn't match the vehicle very well (gaps under the rear door, visible body seams on corners, etc). I understand the newer versions fit and cover better, but can't speak for those.

Thanks looks tidy does it have recovery points? I have looked at the kaymar and like the idea of the swing away spare carrier to take the load off the door but I think they will be well out of my price range

Yes, it has two recovery points on the rear (similar to an ARB front bar in execution). You can see the D-shackles hanging from them in the pics (in-line with the chassis rails).

Might be a long shot but have you talked to Ben at APT Fabrications? He's doing a couple of mild custom bits for me at the moment, but seems happy to tackle just about anything, his workmanship is great, price is quite reasonable, and he's good to deal with. He's done lots more than what he advertises...

Or keep trawling the classifieds and hope you get lucky, like I did

I wrecked mine 6mths or so ago & went looking for options as well. I ended up going with Ben's APT Rear Bar. Price was good and well made. I asked him at the time about the wheel carrier and he said it was on his To-Do List....

Happy with mine, but if I was using the Disco for remote touring, then I'd also like the rear tyre/Jerry Holder too.

If I had to replace mine today, I'd get one of APT's. Especially for that price. Anyway, TJM stopped making mine years ago and they were twice the price.

Got on to Ben still no wheel carrier option but said its more then strong enough if I wanted to fab my own on there and I'm happy to do that with the price of his bar leaves some change in my pocket to make the mods. Arb got back to me with a price for the kaymar rear bar $3480.00 with wheel carrier and jerry carrier I only paid $1800 for the car so no way am I coming at that price

Did Ben mention whether he would modify it for you?
I don't really have the know how to mod mine, but might be interested to find out what sort of $$ it would cost to have modified....
