    Victorian Discovery 1 Help

Hey there people. I was hoping someone could help me out.
I just got a V8 D1 from my in-law and it is running a little rough at the moment. He tells me its the gear-box which was the initial reason he stopped using it, his wife maintains the same story.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get it looked at? Id rather someone who deals with Rovers as they are more likely to have parts laying around and might save me a penny or two. Not to mention they'll know what they are looking at unlike taking it to an everyday mechanic.

If it helps I am currently situated in Melton and I don't mind travelling 2-3 hours if it means I can get this beast in good running gear.

    cheers

    Welcome to the forum.

When you say it's running rough, but the gearbox is suspected, do you mean it doesn't drive well, or is the engine itself actually running rough? Has the engine ever been overheated at all?

If you want an opinion of how it drives compared to how it should, I'm over in Sunbury and could pop over at some stage if you're not in too much of a rush and take it for a spin?

    Cheers - Gav.

    Thanks Chief...

The engine actually sounds great in my non-professional opinion, though then again Ive never really been exposed to to many Rovers.

Its only after I engage the gears does it begin to sound like something might be going on. I drove it around the court and it seemed like it wanted to move but couldnt very well.

If you wanna meet me outside our factory I can supply an arvo beverage or three

I wouldnt trust the D1 on a trip to far from the parking bay just yet. Id need to get a tow truck to cart it around

spare engine and auto if that helps

Hey mate, I'm in Buninyong and have a complete 95 disco with a 3.9 and auto if that is any help. It also has a gas system on it. The car itself is likely beyond resorection but would be ideal for donor parts. We'd need to get it running so you could hear it and get it up to temp to make sure there's no slipped liners etc, from an overheat.....happy to do this. You would have everything at hand to convert across to auto that way????

I also have a workshop and hoist so could remove it on sight, no probs.
