Thread: Winch Cradle

Yep, I have towbar receivers front and rear that my winch on cradle slots into. I also have 350A? Anderson plugs and under bonnet isolators activated from within the cab as part of my Traxide 160 kit.
My front bar is a winch type with a custom made receiver inserted, but the principle will work for you

Apologies for going slightly off track. How have you set up the wiring for the winch when in use at the rear of the car? I have the traditional "winch-on-the-bulbar" setup but many the occasion when it would have been easier to pull the car out of the bog the way it went in, rather than go through it.

2 isolators and running separate 70 welding cable to front and rear 350A Anderson plugs which are attached to the respective steel bars. Obviously the winch also has an Anderson plug. I also have dual batteries using Tim's Traxide system. Make sense/

Where did you get the winch cradle that converts a winch to fit into a reese hitch? I am looking at one of those Domin8r winches.

So no one has used a cradle that sites between the chassis rails and then just feeds up through the bullbar? I dont really want to have to store the winch in the vehicle have to attach it to a reese hitch each time i use it.

ARB airbag compatible bars use a cradle that sits between the chassis rails so that the winch is not mounted to the bar, its easy enough to get one made up.
A mate made one out of 10mm plate as a discreet winch mount for his rangie, you would then only need a slot and either a hawse or roller fairlead bolted to the bar.

Do you think i would i need two fairleads - one on the cradle and one on my bullbar at the front? Or could i get away with just the bullbar one?
