normally caused the `over centre` hair springs in the latch being weak or most likely broken.

My door lock actuators were all stuffed when i got my car.
I first of all removed the door skins to check. Actuators boots were torn on all doors. At times binding up enough to prevent the actuator moving its full distance. Other times working as expected.
Tearing off the boot fixed the problem all be it temporarily.
Given the cheapness of these parts i just went and got a new set of actuators.
Coupled with an alarm system. Whole lot cost me under $100.
Now all doors open and shut properly.
Very simple to change and peace of mind knowing your car locks and opens nicely.

Given the cheap prices on egay for such things i say change the lot.
