    Lock actuators random fault

    Hi all!

Is there known problem that would cause lock actuators to operate randomly on Disco 1? Or should I say not operate when intended. I have a problem with tail door and lhs rear door. When central locking sometimes they just don't lock. If I unlock and lock again they operate. Tail door is becoming more of a problem with 50/50 chance of locking and sometimes it takes 2 times of unlock / lock for it to operate properly.

    Thanx!

    Me too!

I can't add anything to this except I am most interested in what comes back.

My 3-dr does the exact same thing (except it's the 'front/only' LH door), and has done for years. The driver's door works perfectly, every time. I've checked and cleaned and lubed all mechanisms with no change. I've replaced the actuators with wreckers yard specials that seem to work strongly out of the car across a good battery. No change. I have a set of aftermarket actuators I could fit, but I'm not entirely convinced that'll fix it. When I do the second cycle I often hear a clunk as I 'unlock' and then I know it will lock when I next hit the button.

Same here, LHF sometimes requires a second try for it to open, usually when SWMBO is at the door waiting to get in. Maybe the disco is just trying to tell me something

G'day. Any chance you could provide more info on this? Link, pics, etc? Otherwise it is just teasing...

I have installed one of these in my driver door. This shape / size, not the brand. They fit well. No mods required mechanically. Wiring I had to match. It wasn't straight plug in. Now I don't know how it will fit into tail gate tough.

Discoclax, sorry Jaycar (not Jaco). Looks much like Roamers link. From memory there is a rack and gear inside - the teeth on the rack get worn where the gear first engages. Just my experience with the units.
