Nobody?
Am I correct in assuming that when the key is on (position 1 or 2) I should have 12v showing at fuse position 14? And that it shouldn't matter what position the gear shifter is in (manual trans).
I'm trying to track down the source for my non working reverse lights which is why I ask. And when I checked there earlier it was showing almost no voltage when touching the positive probe to the fuse terminal and the negative probe to the chassis.
Nobody?
I'll have a stab, but I don't know specifically about Disco's fuseboxs. I'm Assuming fuse 14 is for the reverse lights? Are you saying that you have voltage there before you put it in reverse, but the voltage drops right down once reverse is selected?
If this is the case, and the fuse isn't blowing, I would say you have a bad connection sone where. What happens if you remove both reverse light globes and try the same tests? Does the voltage still drop?
It could be upstream of the fuse - have you tried a new fuse, or tightened up the contacts the fuse sits in and given the new fuse a really good wiggle to clean the contacts? The contacts on the gearbox switch or even the switch intself could be dodgy - can you locate the switch and remove it to clean it?
Hopefully there's a couple of things you can check.![]()

Thanks for checking and giving feedback. Not sure if its different for the Tdi D1's (wouldn't think so) but I read on here in another thread that 14 supplied power to the reverse switch/lights.
More checking and researching today, hooray.
Haha it's all good. In my case I know it to be the 2nd down from the top of the 2nd collum of fuses (working from left to right), but I could quite easily be wrong.
Ok tested that one.
That is the reverse lights but also the dash lights.
12 volts come on when dash lights come on so not on accessories.
Thanks for checking. So in key switch position II there should be ~12v showing. I'll double check that that is the case, but I know my dash lights come on so it should be.
I've been suspect of the reverse switch from the get go but this will help confirm it for me.
not sure if it will help or not but my reverse lights would only come on when i was holding the gear stick right up against the back position with my hand. if i left it to sit in reverse by its own weight the lights would not stay on.
when i got transfer case rebuilt and they changed the main seals on the gearbox at the same time they must have cleaned the switch or done something because now lights work all the time.
im sure youve checked all this though. could be helpful though just to try and hold lever right back with your hand and see if lights come on.
